Betsy, if only you live in my country ( i am in Asia), you will get so many orthodontist who willing to accept you..There are a ton here...and the good thing is braces is cheap in my country. Although the material is good (like me, i use 3M product), this can be happened because the service payment for the dentist is very low compared in Europe And America. Actually i am really shock with the prices for braces in America & Europe since the material for the braces actually is quite cheap. It's just in my country, i have not seen yet a hospital/clinic that use digital imaging to predict the result after braces.
For implant, i hear the price here is around 1052-1578 dollar depended from the place.

Hi Ilay,
It's the labor, labor is so expensive here, which is why so many goods are made overseas. But services we can't go anywhere else for, not when it's regular visits. You should see the markup on medication, it's many thousands %. I guess there is no regulation of these things. I believe people should be compensated well for their education and work, but I don't agree with where it's at now.

Fancy x-rays when they help are useful, but some may not be as useful as others, just something to bill for. And in the hands of someone not as skilled, then they really don't matter.
In braces 12+ years, lost my upper vertical tooth display, very depressed.

Hi Betsy,
I have been having orthodontic treatment for the purpose of helping my TMD. I have been having the ortho with a Functional orthodontist who has a special interest in treating the TMD. Have you seen a Functional orthodontist who specialises in treating the TMJ for an opinion? I know they are not easy to find, and sometimes it's necessary to travel a distance to find one, but I think they would be more likely to give you a better opinion on what is wrong. They are also more likely to be able to use orthodontics to correct problems with the bite and jaw, which other orthodontists think can only be corrected with surgery.
