Re: Sunshiney Saga
Hope you are feeling better today.... it takes time to get used to the hardware.........Then
you get an adjustment....with heavier wire and power chains...like I had yesterday. Wow
The discomfort will pass and you will start to see the difference...I'm almost twice as old
as you and let me tell you ...you are doing the right thing. You get to be my age, you
need to be able to chew....you have a head start.........

Thanks for the info on the plaque tablets, there was some in my 'goody bag' from the ortho.Tobilei wrote:Glad you're feeling a little better today! I know it's tough but try not to worry too much about staining. I've only stained mine once and it was with accidental curry and even with that happening they only look funny under bright light. Most mouthwashes and stuff the staining is only temporary and brushes away (although I don't recommend those plaque staining tablets, they're really tough to get off!)SunshineRay wrote:You guys are great! I slept all night and felt fine this morning but I still took some advil, just in case. I'm doing much better today. I think being there that long and then everything going wrong just set this off on the wrong foot.
I am paranoid about everything staining them though. I have blue toothpaste and remember reading on here about blue mouthwash staining.
Im going to attempt pics soon so I can track the progress. I tried before and it looked huge!
Looking forward to the pics

Thanks for the encouragement! I know I did the right thing in the long run but the beginning is just uncomfortable.oldguy wrote:Hope you are feeling better today.... it takes time to get used to the hardware.........Then

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Today is my first day back at work since getting braced and I was hoping I could hide out at my desk all day since only 2 people know. Of course there was an issue and the person in charge isnt in yet so I had to handle it. lol I know people are going to see them but I feel horribly self consious about them. I think its like a spotlight on my teeth, which Ive always preferred to hide. Ive practiced smiling and talking and feel like I look goofy.
I am feeling ok about food. Of course there are some things I cant eat but its been better then I imagined. My only problem is Im chewing on a back molar, which happens to be where the TAD is and the one that caused me so much pain. I certainly dont want to mess that thing up. Grapes have been my BFF!
I have power chains to close the extraction gap.
I took advil friday morning just in case but I havent taken any since and I dont feel any pain. Of course the worrier in me thinks that means something got messed up (not tight enough) and my teeth arent moving.
I got pearl (I think) ligs. I asked for smoke and he said the company they deal with discontinued them. That sucked. So besides smoke, is there any colors that are invisible? I have my next appt in 4 weeks.

Sunshine...you did it perfect! I hope you continue doing well. No pain...I like hearing that. My turn is coming...and I want to be able to say that! You have had a rough start to your journey. BTW...How did your camping weekend go ?
You are the second post today that I read about grapes being easy to eat.....that would not have crossed my mind!! Will have to remember that!
Thanks for keeping us posted!

Glad things aren't hurting
I think pearl are a white colour, clear stain the easiest. I've had a silver power chain that wasn't hugely noticable, but definitely more than the smoke. Too bad about it being discontinued
I remember the feeling of thinking I looked goofy when I smiled and talked. Don't worry, it passes and you don't look goofy at all, it just feels it for a little while.

I did start feeling pressure in my front teeth yesterday. Its probably one level from needing to take an Advil....not really pain, just pressure. Im ok with that though because it makes me feel like things are working.JeniK wrote:Sunshine...you did it perfect! I hope you continue doing well. No pain...I like hearing that. Camping was fine. The only real difference with having braces was the need to brush my teeth after we ate. I was able to eat almost everything they did. Of course we only went for 24 hrs so it wasnt bad.
Are you getting excited for your braces?

Does this feeling of having a gallon of spit in your mouth ever go away?
Someone at work that doesnt know about the braces asked if I was ok because I seemed a little different yesterday. Sooooo I said I have this sunburn. haha I should have used that time to say something about the braces but I didnt. My head is peeling and red and the whole brace deal.....Im pretty hot!

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Sunshine Ray...I am SO excited. I hope I feel this way when it is time!!! Time will go by fast now because there is alot going on in my life for the month of July. One of my dearest friends and her husband and 2 granddaughters are coming to visit us in about a week and a half. 10 days after that I am flying home to visit family. When I get back...I get my braces on 1 week later!! I even thought of maybe getting my braces on before I went back home....then I got smart...and decided that was a silly idea.
Go home without worrying if I will be in pain or not!

Re: Sunshiney Saga
Lol, another this too shall pass thing! I had too much spit for a couple of hours, then I got the dry horrors and spent the next 2 weeks guzzling so much water I nearly set up camp next to the toilet. It was weird though because it was a combination of feeling like I had too much spit but my brackets felt too dry or something.SunshineRay wrote:Does this feeling of having a gallon of spit in your mouth ever go away?
