Newbie here too!

#1 Post by moonchick »

Hi! I'm Jane, I'm 32, and I'm really glad I found this forum! I just had my braces put on this past Saturday, so it's all still new to me. Still trying to get use to talking normally. The brackets still irritate the inside of my lips but I'm trying not to use the dental wax because I don't want to become dependent on it. Chewing is still a challenge for me and if anyone can give soft food suggestions (getting tired of having mac & cheese and mashed potatoes for the past three days!) it would be greatly appreciated.

It's really great to know this a place where I can get good advice. Looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi Moonchick,

Here come some food ideas that have worked for me when I've needed them:

Meatloaf, chicken breast, fish, cooked veggies (pumpkin, broccoli, zucching/courgettes, peas), paw paw, bananas, grapes, peaches, ice cream, yogurt, ricotta cheese, soups (I make my own - chopped carrot, celery, onion, garlic, tomato, seasoning - cook up until soft).

Check out also the soft food suggestions on this website.

Lionfish, Linda21 and KK... thanks so much for the suggestions and advice! It's been a little over a week now and the only foods I've had now beside the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes are rice and soups. I'm am soooo looking forward to trying the fruits and veggie suggestions! I've also begun swishing with the salt water... it's been helping tremendously. Thanks for this bit of info!

Even though it hasn't been very long, it feels like there's already some progress in the movement of my teeth. I can feel certain teeth touching that haven't done so before, so I know they're slowly shifting.

Once again, it's really great meeting everyone. And please let me know about your progresses too!
