Are Clincheck pictures proprietary?

#1 Post by tulip »

How many people out there got a copy (hard copy or online copy) of their clincheck images? Although my ortho showed me the progression images on her laptop before my treatment started, she would not give me my own copy? Is this proprietary stuff?

My ortho gave me a copy of my clincheck once i asked for it but it is a cut down version without the tray by tray veiw the ortho showed me. My version is a short rolling image from start to finish with no stops. Its ok but not as good as the version my ortho had. He said he is only able to give the cut down version as this is designed for patients.

My ortho gave me print outs of the "before and after" of the clin-check. Its a side shot so I can't tell what my smile will look like head on but its something at least.

Maybe your ortho can at least do the same and give you print outs, obviously you dont get to see things moving as they go but at least you can get an idea of what the likely outcome will be.

just a front view of my future teeth, not terribly helpful

Yes, I don't understand why different ortho's handle this so differently. I had to request to see my Clincheck several times, and my ortho's assistant acted like it was a huge favor to show it to me. I asked for a print-out, and she gave me 2 pages, one of my teeth before treatment, and one of the finished look. But my teeth were closed together in each, so it wasn't very impressive. I don't understand it, because the Clincheck is very motivating for everyone, it seems. And what is bad about motivation? :?:

I wonder if the intent behind withholding these images, is to avoid inviting patients to scrutinize their actual progress against the planned progress? Maybe this is their way of avoiding "troublesome patients"??? Or maybe I'm being too cynical??

On the other hand, most patients (at least on this website) seem really satisfied with the product in the hands of their dentists and orthos, and it's not like we're going anywhere else at this point, so surely they could give us just a little more in the way of motivating imagery to tantalise us into being impeccable patients!!!

My ortho gave me the movies and pictures without any problems. I even posted a short movie on my blog at http://www.radiopeter.com/2006/10/16/rp ... gn-movies/
