hi guys!
I'm victoria I'm 18 & from scotland, I'm a student at university studying politics & sociology... I've had braces now for almost 2 years & I still haven't got used to them...I just want them off!! I've been scheduled for orthognathic surgery in july...I have a class III malocclusion & a short upper jaw...I was wondering if there was anyone else going through/gone through the same thing?! I would <3 to talk to anyone who is!

aww thanks for the support & don't worry before you know it your bite will be a beautiful class I! I seem to find with the braces it kind of works over night...like you kind of wake up one day to find your teeth have moved! maybe thats just me? lol

I'm sorry to hear you haven't got used to them even after 2 years. Is it a mental thing, do you think it looks bad or is it because they make you teeth hurt? In the first case you finally get used to them with an optimistic attitude. As on the first day I still don't care if my treatment goes 1 or 5 years. I thought it may begin to annoy me, but thats not the matter. The braces don't annoy me, because I accept and tried to make the best out of the situation.
I'm not sure what exactly a ClassIII is, so I cant tell if I share the same treatment.
Good luck with the surgery and best wishes

hey onny!
i think its more to do with the pain thing, right now I have 3 ulcers on my cheeks rubbing against my brace, I'm not gona lie it's sore!
& also with the eating I'm constantly getting food stuck in it, so I'm always too embarassed to speak after eating just in case I have spinach in the front or something
but otherwise I tend not to notice them, maybe its just the way I'm feeling right now! I'm sure once my ulcers disappear I'll be back to normal!
how much longer do you have with your braces?

hey karen, thanks for the advice!
& they are starting to go down a bit too, my dad told me to use cortisol (a really good mouth wash for things like this) about 3 times a day, so I'm doing that with the salt water, & hopefully they'll all be gone!
I always get ulcers when I'm stressed!
