Poll: Wet toothbrush or dry toothbrush?

When I brush my teeth, I always put the toothpaste on the brush and then put the brush under the tap to wet it a little. I've always done it this way (probably because that's how my mum did it and I copied her) but I don't like the feel of a "dry" brush on my teeth anyway. My husband doesn't wet the brush, he just puts the paste on and then gets brushing.

So, who here is a wet and who is a dry brusher, and what's the reason behind your choice?

Just thought it would be interesting to find out.

Wet- it feels better, and that's the way I was taught. I know some people who wet the brush first, THEN apply the toothpaste, which is just weird!

I also wet the toothbrush after applying the toothpaste, I guess this is because I was taught to brush in this manner when I was young. I read somewhere or was told by one or other "expert" that you're not supposed to wet the toothbrush, but after trying to brush with a dry toothbrush on numerous occasions, I've decided to stick to the routine I'm comfortable with (it just doesn't feel right if it's dry).

I'm a wet brusher, but i wet my toothbrush before i put toothpaste on...whats so weird about that?!!

I put the toothpaste on and then wet the toothbrush...

I also wet the tooth brush first and then put the tooth paste on.
I wash it first to make sure its clean.

I actually wet my toothbrush, apply the toothpaste, then wet it again.

I have no clue why I do it that way... but I always have. LOL I never really thought about it before until I read your question.

I rinse the toothbrush to soften up the bristles, put toothpaste on and then wet it again.

You have to get it wet first - you get better bubbles that way

I do rinse the brush first to clean it off and to soften the bristles. Then i put toothpaste on and brush. I used to wet tootbrush after putting toothpaste on but not anymore. I can't remember why i stopped though...hmm..

Howdy all,

I also wet the brush, put toothepaste on it, then brush.......here is why I think I do it this way.......toothepaste bubbles and joins with your saliva as you brush, as you do this, the bubbles and saliva work there way into the nooks and crannies of your mouth better, and get it all very clean........I will also tell you I just tried it both ways just so see if there was a difference.......And....there is......

I'm happy to be the odd one out on this one! I am a 'dry brusher'! I use the brush dry, try to kind of distribute it all around my teeth, and then, because I have a LOT of saliva, my mouth is very quickly overflowing with paste and saliva. Sounds gross I know but anyhow that is it. There would be no paste left if I used a wet brush..
