Update-surgery 11th feb 2008

#1 Post by loulou123 »

Hi everyone

Havent really been on here for ages, due to one thing and another, but now im back lol!

How is everyone doing? Hope everyone had a great xmas.

Im due for my surgery on the 11th feb (just lower jaw now, which im very very happy about!!)

And i have a ridicoulos amount of appointments between now and then: on the 8th jan i have a routine ortho app, then one on the 17th (which apprantly is a long app for measurements and bite plates etc, then the 23rd jan is my pre-op app and to meet the anaesthetist (which so far the hosp has changed the date for 3 times!) then the 31st jan ive got the final meeting with Mr wilson the surgeon and the 7th Feb i see my ortho for the fitting of my surgical hooks (which im pleased to say is only 4 days before the op so hopefully wont be able to cause me too much pain lol!) seems like an awful lot of app and its gonna be very hard to forget about the op with an app every week from now till then : (

Have to admit im starting to get pretty nervous now, so im sure ill be writing on here a lot in the next few weeks.

Ortho wise things have continued to move along slowly and at times painfully, ive had a problem under one of my lower teeth, and at one point it looked like id either have to have the braces taken off that tooth or a root canal preformed on it, but fortunately this has been avoided so far by antibiotics, as my ortho doesn't want to release the tension on this tooth as its a pretty important one.

So that's me updated, for now......!

Hi Loulou,

Great that you got your date. No doubt this created a myriad of emotions! It will be wonderful for you to finally be on the 'other side', but to actually have been given a surgery date must suddenly make it so real.

Well, you know you've got an excellent network available to you here, and a good amount of time to prepare. I will look forward to following your journey. Let us know how your appointments go.....

Hi Lou!
Yeh I know what you mean by all those appointments, although you have one more than me. My timeline is:
4th Jan: Ortho appointment
10th Jan: Consultation
11th Jan: Pre-op
25th Jan: Ortho appointment
28th Jan: Surgery!
Im hoping the 25th Jan ortho app is the one where I get the hooks, just a few days before the surgery like yours, as I don't particullary want hooks for 24 days pre-op!
Oh and btw I think it may be Chichester hospital generally that likes to change appointments as my 11th one was originally on the 17th. But 3 times! thats a bit annoying, hopefully they wont change it again!

Anyway, not long now and we will be on 'the other side'!! :D :D
Have a good new year!!
Rach xx
