Got them today.

#1 Post by rolo »

I had four extractions and upper linguals and lower ceramics. So far all is going well, not much pain, speech pretty good, although I do make and effort with S and T sounds. I took it easy on food tonight and went for fish and mash potatoes, took me a little longer than usual. Not rubbing yet, but have used plenty of wax as suggested by the ortho, but only on bottom ceramics. I prefer linguals to ceramics, they are more comfortable, but that might be because my bottom teeth are just so crowded.

Thanks to all who gave me support in the run up to B day!

Hey Rolo! Great to hear that you survived. I thought to myself that you were taking a lot on in one day, but you made it. It sounds as though you are doing really well for the first few hours, and that has to be one of the hardest adjustment times when everything is new and alien! Your comment about preferring the linguals is interesting. Which type of lingual bracket did you get in the end?

Incognito, the European equivalent of IBraces. I'm really happy with them. This is the only lingual system my ortho offered. Lower ceramics (Radiance Brackets) are a bit bulky, I'm sure I will get used to them, they are very smooth, but higher profile than the linguals. Maybe better on straighter teeth! Am starting to feel the power chain (elastic bands on steroids), my ortho suggested we could try this as I was disappointed one of my lower teeth wouldn't fit into the wire. That's how crooked they are!
