I want my braces back
Last night was the absolute worst. This positioner is killing me. It feels like there's been some kind of mix-up and I got someone else's positioner or something. Between the pain and the drool, I only got about 2 hours of sleep. I went through two years of braces adjustment and jaw surgery with mouth wired shut with less pain than this.

Wow, that sucks!!
I am hoping it gets better for you!! You won't wear the darned thing if it continues to cause you so much pain!

((pokergirl)) I would suggest calling your Orthdontist and tell him/her how uncomfortable this positioner is. Perhaps it needs some type of adjustment? You have my sympathy! I am fighting a tightened wrap around retainer and it's hurting so badly. Braces were easier for me too!
full metal braces 4/26/05~~debanded 12/13/07!
12/13/07 bonded retainers + wrap around hawley

Thanks, Everyone! Last night was much, much better. Now it feels like I've just had a regular monthly adjustment: a little pain and discomfort but tolerable. I just have one more day of having to wear it all day and night.
Simplywired, from what I understand, a positioner is different in that it's moving your teeth to their correct position like what braces do except faster. If your ortho hasn't mentioned anything about one by now, I doubt that you'll have one.

My positioner is a pain in the rear too. There were a couple places where it was really tight and felt like it was cutting into my gums. My ortho made a few adjustments on it for me and it's a little better now, but there are still a couple places where my gums turn white when I bite into it. I'm hoping this is just because it's a little tight and maybe it will losen up after a few days. I would hate for this thing to cause gum recession! I am so paranoid now.
