Attachment glue?

#1 Post by PaulInc »

Do the dentists have different strength glues they can use for attaching attachments?

If there is, is there any risk of tooth damage from using a stronger glue?

The reason i ask is i live at least 1 hours drive away from my dentist and the thought of going back and forwards every week for attachments putting back on is making me more than a little worried. I was going to explain this to the dentist and ask if he could use something a little tougher to reduce the risk and/or frequency i might need to come back.

The reason i chose the dentist so far away is i wanted on that was experienced in as many treatments as possible and had a great reputation.

You know, I wonder about this as well. I hear about people's attachments popping off all the time but it has not happened to me once in 16 aligners and I have 9 attachments. I told them I would be away for the 4 months of summer(and 3-5 hours away from the ortho too) and would only be able to make it in twice for a check up. I wonder if they used extra strength, or if I am just lucky.

Let them know you are concerned and remind them to do a good job cleaning your tooth and applying the glue, since you don't want to have to come back. I'm sure they don't want the extra work either. It's just that sometimes people will do a better job if they think you will notice.
