Painful gum - normal or a bad sign??

#1 Post by Wildewoman »

Last night when I put my upper aligner in I had a little pain at the gum line above only 1 tooth. This tooth has a bump on it & it is close to where I hook the aligner with my finger nail to pull it out.

I have been checking the area & it isn't red or swollen or bleeding. Is this normal?? It is just a little painful.

Should I gargle with warm salt water tonight?

I called my dentist - to get a cleaning done next week - & so he can check the pockets.
Should I be concerend?

Thanks so much!

I used warm salt water gargles at night when the aligners were out & the pain has gone!!

Then last night it was time to move on to my # 3 aligners - I tried for 45 minutes to get them in. I finally asked my husband to help me. He was able to muscle them in - until we heard the famiar "snap" that they were in!! I left them in last night for 12 hours - easier to get them out this morning - still hard to get in & very painful!!
