Hello All,
I've been in braces for 18 months. My ortho told me this morning that any small spaces that are remaining should be closed by my next appointment (5 weeks from now). Also, my next appointment is when she will begin the "finish work". I asked what this "finish work" consists of and was very quickly told that it's all the "knit-picky" things such as checking that my roots are where they should be, etc.
Can anyone offer some examples of what "finish work" they recieved during treatment? How long did the period of "finish work" last?
The tech told me that she expected to me to get a debanding date this morning because as far as she could tell, it is just one little space that needs closing. That made my day.
Any information is greatly appreciated as always. This site is a great resource.
Thank you,
-Braced 28 year old who isn't getting any younger
Tentative Debanding Date.......I think.....Question

My "finishing stage" has been going on since August. I am (allegedly) getting finishing elastics at my next appointment on the 16th, then getting my braces off right after New Year's. I've been in and out of steel wires, various elastic formations, etc and had appointments ever 2-3 weeks, and my teeth just haven't been cooperating (stubborn crossbite). To be honest though, I don't think my ortho thought it would take anywhere near this long, so I'm probably not a good example. I agree with Meryaten - it totally depends. BUT, if your bite is good and you're just closing small spaces and tweaking minor things, it hopefully won't be too long. Good luck!
Thank you~
Thank you for the responses!
Maryaten, I Googled my heart out looking for the info in the link you posted! I never found it.......
I'm checking it out now. I'm just getting impatient now that I'm so close. My bite is where it should be and I'm just waiting for a space to close. It's a stubborn one.
Thank you again!
