Pregnant

#1 Post by changes09 »

I posted this on the wrong forum

I'm not even sure if anyone knows the answer to this question. But if you don't know for sure, you can atleast let me know what you think. How long after jaw surgery do you think its okay to get pregnant? I'll ask my OS this question but I dont see him till April 8th.

I'd definitely ask your OS, like you plan to... but... I would think it would be ok once you can eat right. By then you'll be off any meds related to the surgery, and you'll be able to eat properly to get you and the baby what you both need during the pregnancy.

Good luck! :D

I've read a few diffenent opinions on this subject and the only thing in common was that they were all different, haha  3,6, and 12 months have all been mentioned, depending on the doctor and a whole host of reasons, concerning strain on your body & immune system from so much going into healing from surgery, emotional well being etc. I believe there's a thread here on this forum about it, actually. Best bet is to have a solid conversation with your surgeon & health care provider and take it from there. Good luck :D

PS. For interests sake, there's another jaw blogger Katherine, http://babiesandbraces.blogspot.com/ who is recently done BSSO and is now pregnant. Her last couple of posts talk about some of the concerns, opinions and decisions she went through in weighing the "when to get pregnant" debate. Might be interesting reading, anyways :)

Not being pregnant, female, or even post-surgery, I am by no means qualified to render a very solid opinion, but my general feeling is that being pregnant would be fine as soon as you felt up to it. By the time you don't feel like complete *bleh*, you should be well off of your drugs. If you aren't feeling depressed or in pain, I can't see why you would have to delay any longer.
