I'm new; just saying "hello"

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this message board, but finally got up the courage to make a post. I am 31 years old and was braced (bottom only) May 29 for a pretty significant overbite and overjet. I was told I could get away with bottom only for a few months, but when I went for my first follow up on June 24 (after biting off both canine brackets on the bottom), I was told my tops needed to be installed immediately.

So, I was a little self conscious at first.....however, my teeth have improved so much! And, at this point I don't even remember that I have braces until I try to eat...lol!

Anyhow, I've had two adjustments and I'm told that next time (Oct. 12) that we can start to "close some gaps". I hope that's a good thing since I don't have any "gaps"... :)

18 to 20 months is my expected treatment time.

Well congrats on your progress :) I've been braced for a week and I check the mirror everyday for change...haven't noticed any which is discouraging.

After you saw significant change did your jaw stop aching? Mine aches all the time :(
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

My jaw didn't really ever hurt, but my teeth do! It took me about 3 - 4 weeks to notice any changes. Mainly, I can tell because the wire is straighter. Also, I've been taking pictures once a month. And, even though I don't think much has changed, when I look at the pics it proves me wrong. Keep your chin up...you'll probably see changes soon. :)
