Because of my overbite I was so used to jetting my jaw forward to compensate. My muscles were used to the jetted position. Now that I've had surgery and my bite is corrected, it feels so weird to bite down! I feel like if I bite normally now, I should have an overbite - although the mirror says otherwise. So I find myself still trying to jet my jaw forward when talking and smiling because I did it my entire life prior to surgery.
When did things start to feel natural for you after lower jaw surgery? If I would just bite and smile things would look fine, but I'm causing myself to look silly jetting my jaw forward (when it doesn't need to be) and smiling. Come on muscles - FORGET!

I had a similar problem, my jaw would randomly jerk forward causing the lower front teeth to hit the back of my upper front teeth. It felt like I was going to break my front teeth out. At one point I thought maybe the surgeon brought my jaw forward too much because my lower jaw just wouldnt stay back.
Im 6 weeks post op now and things are a lot better. i dont have the lower jaw mucsle spasms anymore and my lower jaw stays in its proper place a lot more comfortably. I notice every morning when I wake up my lower jaw get more comfortable in its proper position. It will probably take almost a year before it feels completely natural.
