Extractions while braced

Hi! AAAaah 2 weeks ago was my brace day & also came out with 4 less teeth!! (That was a surprise!) They put my brackets on first then did the 4 extractions & the put in the wire. Wow what a crazy day that was! haha

Hi :) , I had 3 wisdom teeth out (the 4th one never showed up) while in braces the first time. I'm about to start ortho treatment a 2nd time. My wife also had a couple of extractions while in braces during her treatment. I guess it's not that uncommon. I think each orthodontist handles things differently. Good Luck!

They...WHAT?! Did the extraction AND put the braces on? :shock:
Woooow that sounds like alot of work for one day, i hope they dont do this to me :cry:

I got my four bicuspids removed my second month in braces. My ortho said he wanted to get things loosened up before pulling my teeth.
Consultation/x-rays- 4/27/09
Spacers- 5/11/09
Braced uppers and lowers: 5/14/09
4 bicuspids extracted: 6/26/09

I was braced in September, 2007 and had my 2 upper premolars extracted in July, 2008. My ortho gave me this option so that I could go for the shortest possible time with gaps. He said that I could have them extracted before I got the braces but that he wouldn't start closing the gaps right away so I opted to wait and have them extracted in the middle of treatment and only had extraction gaps for a few months.
