Help! Aligner up in flames!

#1 Post by smilesunset »

I am waiting for upper refinements and have been wearing my final upper aligner for the last 8 weeks. Tonight, my Other Half managed to throw it (and the paper it was wrapped in while we were having dinner) into the fireplace and it went up in flames! I see my ortho in three days to pick up my new aligners. So my question is this: should I a.) wear nothing for the next three days or b.) wear the previous aligner for the next three days. I can't contact my ortho over the weekend. If anyone has any input or insight, I'd be most grateful. Thanks!

If your doctor is open this weekend, it might be a good idea to see if you can get your new aligner ASAP to prevent any missed time.

You will want something to hold your teeth, even if it is for 3 days. The previous aligner is the next best thing at this time. It may mean that you need to reorder and wear an aligner for the "flamed" stage, again, depending on how the next aligner fits.

It's a good idea to use the cases provided instead of paper towels, and tissues :). Good luck!

My ortho told me to go back a retainer if I were to loose or damage my current retainer at any point.
