Bryton Pick cut powerchain

#1 Post by sillyface »

So I was flossing today and used the proxybrush to stimulate the gums and then tried the Bryton Pick which I had heard rave reviews about. I tried the pick once before but it bent before it even got in between the teeth. After the proxy brush, I figured I would try it again and it certainly did get between my teeth... and all the way to my rocky mountain power chain where it then proceeded to cut it.

The pick cut the chain on the bottom of my top front two teeth. I'm going to call my ortho on Monday morning to see if I need to come in and have it replaced. My debanding date is August 4. Do you think this is something that could push that back?

Yes a broken powerchain does have impact. Now instead of pulling your teeth together, it will be pulling your teeth apart, leaving a gap between your front teeth. One alternative would be to remove the chain altogether, removing the negative pressures. But please talk to your ortho before doing that!!

UPDATE: I just called the ortho and have an appt. to get the powerchain fixed tomorrow afternoon. I feel sooooo relieved.

I am so lucky to have this board to rely on for advice, inspiration, reassurance, humour, etc.

Thanks to everyone who posts!
