Has anyone ever discovered that they got cavities from not being able to brush for the first two weeks post-op?
My back molars on the right side are really sore, but I can't decide if it's from my bite splint or a newly formed cavity. I'm slightly worried as I don't know if I have enough energy to get a filling two weeks post-op. Ughhhh....

After a couple of weeks I noticed that a couple of my teeth on one side felt VERY sensitive to cold. I resorted to the most extreme situation, hypochondriac that I am, and worried I'd need a crown or something. It was pretty painful. But then after a while it just went. Maybe it was because the teeth were moving (don't forget they're still moving after the surgery, into their alignment) and the nerves were a bit mucked about? Not sure, but it went after a while. Everything is a little sensitive at the moment so don't worry about pain just yet. Don't forget that assuming your teeth were in a good condition before the surgery, it takes a long time to develop cavities or decay, 2 weeks of no brushing really isn't a big deal.

I had surgery on my upper jaw and was shut for 4 weeks. I also felt that a couple of my bottom teeth got really sensitive to cold - but after getting all the gear out it kinda went away.. I went to the dentist and he said everything looked fine If you just remember to clean your teeth with the remedies you've been given, it shouldn't be any problem!
