I've just had my first adjustment and am just over two months into treatment for a deep / over bite with damon braces (clear upper / metal lower). My teeth were previously almost perfectly straight but the bite was out (front uppers totally covered lowers when i closed my teeth together) and smile narrow.
A few weeks into the treatment i noticed a large gap appearing between one of my canines and the next tooth and a day or so after the adjustment, one of the front two teeth has been pulled down a couple of mm lower than the other front tooth and another big gap is appearing between two of the lower fronts...so my once straight teeth are a bit of a mess.
I just wondered if this is a normal part of the treatment and teeth usually get worse before they get better...i kind of thought that perhaps they have to moved slowly the teeth into their new places and gaps needed to be created before teeth can be moved into final spot. very grateful if anyone can let me know if i should worry!
As an aside, although i had a few days discomfort after the first adjustment, the brace is very comfortable, face shape already looks better and bizarrely, bite is also more comfortable after only 9 weeks.
brace has caused big gaps in teeth..is this normal stage?

I think it must be normal as I am getting some gaps
I am only one month in braces. On either side of my top 2 front teeth those teeth are not facing the front. I have noticed in the last week, my 2 top front teeth are very close togethor and have created a gap on either side i guess so my tooth next to it can turn and face the front. I am not sure.
I have never seen a person with braces with gaps after they were done w/ their treatment.
I think it might be normal.

It is normal to have gaps from time to time. The teeth are moving into their proper positions, maybe some move faster than others. The ortho may use powerchains or powerties to close gaps.
Many people have said "it gets worse before it gets better." Well, I am almost at the year mark and my teeth don't look as perfect as they once did. Well, it is mainly my bite. But that is what we are working on. In the beginning 9 months of treatment my teeth looked great, but now with my crooked bite, I am at the "worse" stage. It is a bit shocking but it will turn out perfect in the end.

It's not you but my teeth have gotten a bit more gappy and spacey. Are those words? lol. The bottom ones that were spacey to begin with are getting more spacey. My friend made fun of me the other day and I couldn't help but laugh because it was true. I gotta have a good sense of humor with a mouth full of metal. Prayin I wake up one day before the end of this year with teeth that are so much closer together than they are now.
I'm really depressed about my teeth at the moment as they look horrendous. I've got gaps opening up all over the place & a few of my teeth are stained. It didn't show when they were close together but now it looks awful. I'm guessing, like others have said, it has to get worse to get better but I'm beginning to regret starting the whole process. Hopefully I'll be thinking differently in a year or so time when I'm at the tweaking stage (fingers crossed).
Well my teeth were crowded before and I had to extract one of the bottom front middle ones. The space have closed...but now i realise the teeth are like hanging in limbo....sometimes i see a space....sometimes i dont :/ I guess that's normal...I have an adjustment thursday and would post pics for you guys to see what I'm talking about.
