What products do you have difficulty finding?
I'm gearing up to include some new products at DentaKit.com and was wondering if you guys could tell me what types of dental products you have had a hard time finding in stores? What would you like to see us carry that we're not already carrying? I'm open to all suggestions, whether they be for regular braces, Invisalign, or retainers.
Also, would you like to see dental wax in all sorts of other scents/flavors besides Cherry?
Thanks!

I would like to see a tufted end brush. I have not been able to find them in any local stores.
I would also like to try orthodontic bracket hook cushions. These are little plastic pieces that cover the ends of the hooks that cause cheek irritation. Although wax can serve the same purpose, it can take forever to apply, and these little guys seem like they would be easier to just pop on and off.
Others may like flavored wax, but I prefer plain silicone wax.
Thanks for asking! Love this site and the dentakit store!

Do you mean a brush that looks like this:

Would you rather use one where there is a brush like that on just one end of the handle, or on both ends? I've seen both types. Personally I'm not a fan of handles with brushes on two ends, but some people like them.
Ortho bracket hook cushions can be REALLY HARD for a patient to apply to their own hooks. I believe that you'd need a special little tool (similar to what is used for elastic ligature placement) to use them -- plus you'd need a LOT of patience.

They make disclosing tablets and also disclosing liquid.
My only concern is that it would stain people's ligatures. But I suppose that if you know that in advance, perhaps you'd only use it right before an adjustment.
Anyway, would you rather get the tablets or the liquid, or don't you care?

Quick note re disclosing tablets - I have used two different types of disclosing tablets (purple ones that start off very dark blue and leave a pink stain - supplied by my ortho - and bright blue ones which came from Boots in the UK) with ceramics/clear ligs - they don't stain the ligs at all although you would probably expect them to. All they seem to stain is your gums, tongue and any plaque that hangs around. It looks at first as if the colour is staining the brackets slightly, but it brushes away.
I use them a couple of times a week and swear by them. Sometimes, even when you think you've gone a great job of cleaning, there are places you miss!

I agree with the others for bite wafers and disclosing tablets.
Can't think of anything else right now.
I agree. I think what makes the Braceguard nice is that it comes in thicker "sticks". Even if Braceguard doesn't come in larger quantities a different silicone that is thicker than orthosil would be nice.
Braced: 20 months March 2009-November 2010

Yeah, I had a feeling that some people might prefer liquid disclosing solution, since I remember that when I first got my braces on, chewing on ANYTHING was a challenge, even if it was a soft dissolving tablet!
Regarding the BraceGard silicone, I can get it in larger quantites. Right now we have it available in some refill packs with 8 rods of Brace Gard Silicone and 2 tubes of Brace Relief Analgesic Gel. The problem is, the product only comes in HUGE quantities of the silicone rods, so we broke it down into manageable refill packs.
But a lot of people do like to buy the 50 pack of the Ortho-Sil (the bulk box). So maybe we should offer a bag of 50 of the BraceGard strips. What do you think?
I've also seen the Ortho-sil in a thicker version, similar to the BraceGard, in individual little plastic containers the way the regular wax and regular Ortho-Sil is packaged. I don't remember the name off hand, but I could look into it. The advantage would be that the thick Ortho-Sil would be in individual plastic cases, while the individual BraceGard would be "loose," because it doesn't come in a case in bulk.

Is there anything made that is safe to use for appliances with solder? My ortho told me I can use denture cleaner and mouthwash but everything I've read HERE says it's not safe for longterm use with solder. Of course I also read here that you shouldn't put retainers in hot water and my ortho said it's fine to drink hot coffee (I don't but he said I can lol).
