Hello Everyone!
I have had my braces on for a 1yr and 7 months so far. At my last appt. my dentist did some minor tweaking here and there. There is a small gap that he has been working on for maybe 3/4 months now that he says is being stubborn and he would like to perform some bonding on it at my next appt. My question is if bonding can be performed while my braces are on? I thought that they had to be off for this procedure. Could it mean that I am getting debraced?
Thank you for any comments or advice.
Bonding a Gap?

Re: Bonding a Gap?
Is the bonding to fill up the gap? I don't know how bonding works. But, maybe I should ask my ortho. I have these gaps that are SO stubborn and I don't want to be braced much longer if i don't have to. If bonding is an answer, I'm interested to learn more. How big is your small gap? Which tooth?preci0ussh0rty wrote:Hello Everyone!

Re: Bonding a Gap?
Yes, the bonding is to fill the gap. It is about a 1mm gap between my upper 2nd and 3rd tooth from the middle. Sorry if that was confusing.
Re: Bonding a Gap?
I have had my lateral incisors bonded while the braces were on to close gaps that were there. My teeth were too small in porportion to my other teeth so it looks natural.

did your ortho do it or did you have to get your dentist to do it? also, is it expensive? is it permanent?
i have these stubborn gaps that i will ask my ortho if i can get them bonded. i can't stand it anymore.
Re: Bonding a Gap?
I am lucky because my dentist is my ortho. He doesn't specialize in orthodontics but has been doing it for over 20 years and he is fantastic. So I get to have my wires taken off and have my cleaning and have them put back on. When I have my braces of on May 9 I will be treated to a cleaning before I get my retainer all on the same day so it an added bonus for me.
Re: Bonding a Gap?
Doesn't sound like you will be getting the braces off. He will likely just need to remove the wire to do the bonding, then replace the wire when done.preci0ussh0rty wrote:Hello Everyone!
