Expander and funny sensations

#1 Post by Printemps »

Hello everyone,

I've been wearing an upper palate expander (schwarz) for the past 3 weeks, and I've been having some unusual sensations in my nose and sinus area, recently (frontal sinus and maxillary sinus, if you want to know! ;) ) as well as at the back of my hard palate and the bone - I feel alot of pressure and a bit of discomfort in these areas. At 26, and turning it once every 3 days or so, I wasn't expecting any kind of non-dental expansion, but I am getting a tiny gaps between my front teeth and the neighbouring teeth- could it be possible that it's working skeletally?? I'm interested to hear your thoughts!

I'm not sure. I don't have a palette expander but I would assume it is working. I would call your ortho and ask if this is normal.
