NERVOUS!!!

#1 Post by kmluvgod »

Okay here I am practically sitting on edge awaiting tomorrows procedure. For those who dont know I am getting 4 wisdom teeth extracted as well as 3 additional teeth to make room for my teeth to align. Have I lost my mind for getting all 7 teeth pulled all at once? Im going to be given IV sedation and a good pain medication. What really freak me out is the impacted wisdom tooth that has to be cut out. Please someone tell me that this procedure is not as bad as it seems. How long after the extraction did you have to wait before you got braced up? Will I still need spacers? Thank you in advance.

Hang in there, its going to be a rough week for you but wisdom teeth removal has become a typical procedure for folks after the age of 16. Impacted wisdom teeth do need to be cut out and this too is very common. Never a fun ride to have the wisdom teeth removed but if you follow the doctors orders you should have no complications and be back to yourself very soon. As far as the other teeth being removed to reduce the crowding I will tell you that I and plenty of others did it without sedation and it was easy. I figure since you are being sedated for the wisdom teeth you may as well get them all done at once (Im sure that was your thinking as well). Eating will be tricky so have soft foods available. I had 4 teeth extracted and was braced the following week and there have been no complications or regrets. Focus on the end result which will be a beautiful smile! Wishing you luck!

I agree, follow all the instructions and you'll be fine. It's not the most fun you'll ever have, but getting it done and out of the way is a good thing.
I'm not sure how long till you can get your braces on. Some of the people on here got them on before extractions, some after. I think it just depends on your ortho.
Good Luck!

Thank you so much for the encouragement bedazzlemouth and ashesgap. The surgery went really well all except for the pain meds wearing of too soon but, that problem was fixed instantly. I must admit I had an wonderful oral surgeon and team by my side. Iwould recommend him to anyone. This is the first day after surgery and I feel pretty good, although I must give credit to my wonderful husband and awesome kids. Im going to post my jorney and pictures as soon as I feel better. Thanks again!!

i'm glad to hear you're feeling okay so soon!! I had 2 wisdom teeth extracted on friday (one compact and one impact) I was supposed to be back to work today but it didn't quite happen. I still look like i've been in a fight with a brick wall and I can't eat! I'm having orthognathic surgery at the beginning of next year though so at least this is the easier bit haha!

my boyfriend is being wonderful and looking after me which makes everything tons easier. Although i'm so bored of lying around now!

I just had my upper and lower pre molars pulled today. I was a bit nervous all afternoon but now that it's over all is well. I think we just get ourselves worried for no good reason. Now I get my wire put back on on Wednesday. Can't wait to see improvement! :)

Yeah Nikki we did ge worked up for nothing. The procedure for me went great, :jump: the healing on the other hand is tough because Im so hungry for real food. Im tired of eating jello, maspotatoes, and soup. I must say that this suffering process is well worth the beautiful smile in the end.

You will be fine dentistry has come a long way since our parents were young. wisdom teeth are bigger than normal well for me they were, but the heal well( mine did) like having any tooth removed it will take a few days for you to adjust.me like you would rather have them all done at once then having to go back over and over. You will be asleep when you wake up it will seem like 5 mins. All the best :)

I feel your pain, I was so scared to get mine removed. In the end it ended up being more annoying than painful. It didn't really hurt too bad, I just couldn't eat or do anything. Be sure not to suck on anything or smoke so you don't get dry sockets :)
