How long until you got the clin check?

#1 Post by lilone »

I had my invisalign impressions a month ago and recently sent off an e-mail to my ortho to find out if there was any word on a clin check. She has not yet received the digitalized version of my moulds. When she gets them she will then dictate the tooth movements that she wants and they will create the clin check. Is this a normal time line? She said it would take about two months from when I had the impressions to get the aligners but now I wonder if that time frame is possible if a month has gone by and they haven't even sent her the digital moulds yet. I'm not in a massive rush but I started the whole braces consultation process in February. I'm really hoping I can at least get started on actual treatment by summer as it is the perfect time to get used to new aligners. Not that there is much I can do about it...it takes what it takes but I'm just wondering if this time line is standard.

Can anyone tell me how long each stage took for you (digitalization to clin check to actual aligners).

We always send impressions out the day after they are taken (as UPS will bill us for the same day shipping, but bills Align for shipping the day after). Our offices are near Toronto, Canada, and I usually get my ClinCheck back within a few days after shipping. There could have been a hold up with your doctor inputting your prescription, uploading your photos/xrays, shipping your impressions, and/or an issue with volume of cases requiring digitization in Juarez, Mexico, and/or the volume of cases that need work in Costa Rica.

We just purchased two digital scanners to eliminate the need for impressions. This will digitize the teeth instantly, and allow the technicians in Costa Rica to work directly on the treatment plan, skipping the steps in Mexico completely.

Thanks very much for the response. I wonder if there was a delay getting the impressions digitalized since I am also in Ontario so the shipping times should be similar to your office. Can I ask how long it usually takes, once the digitalization takes place, for the aligners to arrive? Would it be another month from that time?

Thanks so much!

This is going to depend on how long it takes for your orthodontist to review your ClinCheck and submit any changes, review your ClinCheck and submit any, etc etc until the plan is accepted. The key moment is when the orthodontist approves the ClinCheck. After that point, it takes about a week or so for the aligners to arrive in the office.

Generally, the techs have any revisions available to the doctor within 1-2 days. How often your orthodontist works on the ClinChecks and how many revisions are necessary will be the major factors.
