Sensitivity on gumline around molar

#1 Post by pattikq »

I have a molar where a bracket is located holding the wire for the top teeth. During the cleaning of my teeth, when the hygienist went along with her tool picking at my gums, she hit the sensitive spot. I noticed it's there all the time and the dentist didn't see any issues with the tooth.

I am using sensitive toothpaste hoping that helps. I believe the metal may be cutting into the gumline. Anyone else with this issue?

I am not familiar with all the terms of the braces, so I hope I explained it well.

Hi Pattikq
As my teeth have moved I have had sensitivity on various teeth. Most of the time it lasts for maybe 8-10 days and then goes away. I always use the sensitivity tooth paste which really does help. Hopefully the sensitivity you have will not last too long :?

i have had similar but on the inside of my mouth (not the bracket side) of my back molar. but the ortho said it was just gum inflammation and gave me a special rinse to use. Your sounds a bit different though, sensitive vs painful! mine i could feel the gum area was very swollen and sore and hurt alot! its finally started to feel better after a few days of this rinse. They told me to keep brushing and flossing as usual though even if it hurts :(

hope yours improves soon!
