Today marks my second week since having braces installed. My tongue no longer hurts and I can now eat most of the foods that are a part of my diet without pain or discomfort. I am starting to get used to the food that gets caught in the braces while chewing. Things are starting to get back to normal.
I have ceramic braces on my upper teeth and the normal metal braces on the lower teeth. Most people don't seem to notice the braces.
I lost at least five pounds since the braces were installed because I just didn't eat as much because of the pain and discomfort.
At first, I didn't think I would be able to make it for the approximately two years I am supposed to have the braces on, but now I don't think it will be a problem.
I knew I needed braces for quite some time. I finally ran out of excuses and decided to get them installed. I'm glad I did.

Re: Second Week
Hi Metalman,
I am glad you are now able to eat. It took me about a month to be able to finally eat. I had my top braces for a month and bottom ones for about 3 weeks and still had spacers in so that is why it took me so long to be able to eat! The bad news is I go for an adjustment next Tuesday and it will be back to soft foods once again!! I look forward to reading about your progress!!

Re: Second Week
it's crazy how our mouth can completely learn how to eat and talk again after the whole geography of the mouth gets all switched up.
Re: Second Week
I have my first adjustment tomorrow.
Re: Second Week
Eight week adjustment was quick and painless.
