Whining about spacers

#1 Post by gemini4 »

I mistakenly posted this in the "our braces stories" forum ...

It has been 5 days since my spacers were put in, and they come off and the braces go on in 3 days.

I hate them!!!

The pain is not unbearable, but they feel gross ... chewing food is especially unpleasant because of the "chewing a rubber band" sensation. I have been drinking smoothies and eating soup in order to avoid having to chew.

I have to go in tomorrow to get one replaced since one came out over the weekend.

Thanks for letting me whine!

However ... could it be possible that after just 5 days in spacers that it feels like my teeth are moving? The space between them seemed tighter than usual when I flossed last night.

I have spacers, coming off tomorrow, braces going on. I had spacers twice, once for 8 days, made molds and then I got a week off, then orthodontist placed again. I am getting a RPE and and top braces.

Metal spacers tore up my tongue and cheeks, sucked worse the first time, and making due the second time. Time will go by fast. Chewing has been a none issue, as I been eating "baby" food, Yogurt, rice and beans.

regarding the speed with which your teeth are being moved, spacers usually offer a more abrupt change to the teeth than any other part of the braces process. So it is certainly plausible that you could notice a difference in space within just a day or so.
I may not know much about teeth (or most else for that matter) but I do know about Spacers For Braces.
