Hi
OK - I had an openbite, underbite and mild crowding. Got 4 premolars removed and my teeth are straightening well. I've always had a triangular gap between my top front two teeth, and now they are barely touching each other. But I always expected to veneer / bond those teeth anyway after treatment - to close an expected gap (and hide an ugly calcium fleck).
I still have maybe 0.5cm gap from each of the 4 extracted pre-molars to close. I know my teeth will move in (slightly goofy) and round (along the wire) and my ortho has warned I'll have a gap, but I don't know what to expect. I mean in simple maths terms, surely this doesn't mean I'll have 1cm gap on the top front two?
The Madonna look I can probably pull off, but don't wanna be rocking the Wife of Bath. And I don't want oversized veneers a la Matt Dillon in Summat About Mary, either.
Yes I have a sense of humour about it, but am interested in your - especially reassuring - experiences.

Re: Help! Extractions > huge upper front gap?
i've had many gaps during my treatment, in the beginning i had a lateral removed and it left a big gap, afterward for some weeks i had the Madonna look, something like 2-3 mm gap.....it's been hard for me, but time went by so quick..
and people around me have been soooo supportive, never seemed to notice, even if, to me, it looked like you cold see it from an airplane
dont worry, its all going away, im sure that its not the final look
you should ask your ortho about his plans, and what changes are due, for me it was reassuring watching how things progressed...
