First wire change (pics)

#1 Post by gemini4 »

I had my first wire change today. I think it's pretty amazing how much movement has happened in just the first month -- there's a big difference in the wire! I can also tell that the top molars have flared out quite a bit because of how my molars align on my closed bite now. I won't be ready for the bottom braces to go on for another month or two, as the top front teeth need to push out more so the bottom brackets won't crash in to the top teeth. Part of my problem is that my front teeth slant inwards. I can see the forward movement, though, so it's very encouraging!

*** Technical question *** How can I post a photo so that it's not necessary to click on it? I can't figure this out -- thanks!

Thanks, everyone, for your kind words!

It's funny, now that I've had this new wire on for two days, it seems to be making my bite all wacky. The top lateral incisor that has moved so dramatically is now crashing in to my bottom lateral incisor! Before when it was so much higher, the two never made contact. From what I've been reading of everyone's stories here, it seems the orthodontia process is two steps forward and one step back!

I'm not exactly looking forward to having my bottom braces on, but that's when the real work will happen! And the good news is once the bottoms are ready to go on, the top incisors will have made the good progress of tipping outward.
