Lower jaw surgery, 1 week mark [Pictures]
Hi everyone, I'm new to the board and it feels great to find a community where people are going through the same/similar things as you feel freakishly different/alone during recovery! Haha. I had a large overbite which has effected my confidence for years, always trying to push my jaw out when people looked at me from the side, always touching my face to hide it. I Had surgery last thursday and today marks the 1 week and end of my antibiotics! Here is some pictures to track my recovery.

You're recovering fast. I see almost no swelling on the 1 week photo. Hope I recover as fast as you after my underbite surgery. Looks great btw

Thanks alot. Feel so much better even with some swelling than I did before surgery! Yes it seems to be going down fast, I've made sure from day 1 to get up, get a shower, take the dog for a walk. Makes you feel better and I'm sure getting out and about brings the swelling down much faster than laying in bed!Railroads wrote:You're recovering fast. I see almost no swelling on the 1 week photo. It looks like you're recovering really quickly. The day 10 pic looks great! I'm 48 hours from a lower jaw advancement so I'm crossing my fingers that my post-op and results go as well as yours Luke.
Cheers,

Hi Chris, thanks a lot! the first week is the hardest because you feel fine in yourself but your appearance says otherwise. I found the quicker you get out and about though the quicker the swelling goes, laying in bed won't help. As for the operation I was so anxious going in, but you're in the anaesthetic room then you literally just wake up confused and it's all done! Nothing to worry about at all. Good luck!Dweezel wrote:It looks like you're recovering really quickly. The day 10 pic looks great!
