How long do you think it will take to close this gap?
My ortho isn't really giving me an answer when I ask him... I've had braces for about a year. Things are moving reaaaaly slowly.

Each person varies but to give you a rough estimate although my ortho purposely made a gap between my maxillary centrals and then proceeded to close it up. The gap was maybe 1-2mm wide. The entire process to close again took 3-months. Based on your gap i'd say it will take at least 6-months or more. But that is just a guess but i'd be very surprised if it closes sooner than that. From your image it looks like your ortho extracted your upper lateral to make space.

I think it depends what your orthodontist is trying to do. I had a gap similar to yours and my orthodontist first used a power chain specifically to begin to close the gap. In about three months it was half closed. Now his aim is to improve the orientation of the teeth so closing the gap is no longer important. I no longer have a power chain on and although the teeth are positioned better the gap is not really closing any further.
My orthodontist estimated the gap to close by about 1mm per month but only when the aim is to close the gap.

As you'd imagine, it's entirely individual. I have a gap between my front centrals...it was 5-6 mm when I started and in 3 months it's down to 1.5-2 mm (which means I now have space between my laterals and canines...)
