Clear Plastic Retainer
Hey guys, I recently got my braces off (monday morning), and later in the afternoon went to pick up my retainer. The retainer is clear plastic and fits perfectly over my teeth. I was told to only wear it at night, which I have been. I've noticed the past few days though, that when I wake up in the morning and take the retainer out, my teeth are perfect, no gaps. However, later in the day, I notice that there is a very slight space that has developed between my two front teeth. It's always gone in the morning, and returns in the evening. Is this normal? Will those front teeth eventually harden up?? Please help, I called my ortho, but the office is closed until monday! I'm kind of starting to freak out!!

Anybody experience this before?? or have any advice??
Re: Clear Plastic Retainer
It will be unstable at the moment but it as time goes on (providing you wear it consistently) it should become stable i guess.
My ortho told me to wear my clear retainer at night too but i was worried about my teeth shifting, so im gonna wear it full time for 6 months then a nights after.
So far ive wore it full time for nearly 4 months and my teeth havent shifted.

Yeah I don't understand why the ortho has me wear it only at night.. I guess to prevent wear and tear?
Re: Clear Plastic Retainer
Maybe they figure people aren't going to want to wear them all day.
Wearing it more than just at night can't hurt. It may help your teeth stay put so you don't keep seeing the changes during the day.
