Myofunctional therapy alongside Alf appliance

Hi there,

I've had my Alf appliance in for 7 weeks now and have been struggling some days to maintain proper nosebreathing technique as my tongue feels quite sore against the appliance on the roof of my mouth.i had my first consultation on sat and realised that I was placing my tongue too close to my front teeth and not at that sweet spot just behind them so concentrating on resolving that now and also trying the paper tape over my lips to ensure I'm nose breathing while asleep.
It's all such a conscious effort to do these simple things but I'm really hoping they become inate soon. My ortho stressed how important proper tongue posture and nose breathing is to the ongoing treatment and maintaining results thereafter.

I'm just curious how many people here practiced myofunctional therapy while undergoing orthodontic treatment and if you did would you recommend it? I've read so many posts about people with unsatisfactory results or worse getting great results but going straight back to square one soon after getting braces off. I'd love to hear if myofunctional therapy was being used and peoples thoughts on whether it may have helped during and after treatment?

I can't say I've been through it myself, but I am skeptical... The biggest red flag I see is that the qualifications for being a myofunctional therapist do not appear to extend beyond a three-day course taught at a hotel. I'm skeptical of anything that looks like it should be really complicated offering credentials after just a few short days of instruction.
