25 and finally getting braces
Im finally getting braces on jan 5! After years of debating then waiting for my insurance to pay some of the cost. This site is sooo helpful. Ive been reading and lurking on this site for the last few months and have gotten so many good tips for when i actually get braces on. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself since i know i will most likely still have a couple of questions! :)

I saw your post on the impacted canine thread. I too have an impacted canine and am getting braces to pull it down. I went to two different consults and both orthos seemed confident mine would come down with exposure surgery. I would go for a second consult (if they are free where yout at) with another office and see what they. It doest hurt to get second opinion
Re: 25 and finally getting braces
Thanks for your advice! Currently Im worrying about the time as it always makes me waiting for nearly a month to make an appointment...anyway, you're right, i should get more opinion...braces25 wrote:octshio wrote:im 26...but i have more complicated issue

how's your problem look like? Does your baby tooth still remain? The ortho told me that my canine can't come out because there's lack of space. I think maybe people who remain their baby canine can solve their problems easier as there's enough space anyway
Re: 25 and finally getting braces
I do stil have my baby canine. My orthho said that the adult tooth is in the roof of my mouth. But we do have to make some room for the adult tooth. I have to have the exposure surgery and all four wisdom tooth removed about 3-6 months into treatment so i will have enough space for it to come downoctshio wrote:Thanks for your advice! It shouldn't be too bad for either of you, at least you guys wouldn't end up getting implants after orthodontic treatment is done, which cost so much
Compared to that or needing something extreme in treatment i wouldn't let anything stall me

actually that's one of the things I'm worrying about...if my canine couldn't be pulled down -some chance it fails for adults- i'll have it pull off and get an implant
so i still can't decide if i should just let the canine remain in my gum for the rest of my life

The odds are probably so low that its almost an impossibility, if anything maybe waiting gives you a higher chance of things not going perfectlyoctshio wrote:Tyrantblade wrote:It shouldn't be too bad for either of you, at least you guys wouldn't end up getting implants after orthodontic treatment is done, which cost so much
