Can anyone tell me what this device is?

Hi all, so I had my 2nd adjustment almost a week ago, whilst my ortho didn't mention he would be adding anything new to my braces upon inspecting my new thicker archwires in the mirror the following morning I could see what appeared to be clear bands around my upper Damon ceramic brackets just under the archwire, attached to only the front 4 teeth, they were very unnoticeable so I actually thought perhaps it was gunk rather than anything else (sorry pretty gross!) I didn't think much more about this addition until today when I noticed they have turned a light green colour (again, so gross) after having Indian food for dinner yesterday. Can anyone identify what these could be? And what they are aiming to accomplish on my front 4 teeth? I am familiar with the concept of power chains mostly by reading descriptions of them on this forum, however i thought power chains were used to close gaps, whereas I have no gaps at all in my top front teeth. I am rather annoyed that my ortho didn't even mention that he had added these to my brackets as if I had known they would stain I would have been much more careful about what I ate! Any info would be much appreciated x

Can you post a pic? I wonder if they added ligatures to your brackets for extra reinforcement?
