Tooth is rotating back after bracket was repositioned at last appointment

#1 Post by sizzletasticlily »

I have been in braces for over a year. They were supposed to come off in September and finally everything was looking great.

I got a full powerchain on and he moved the bracket on my lateral incisor. When I started in braces this tooth was rotated at a 45 degree angle and so was the other later incisor. It looked horrible. They were both unrotated and looking good along with the other teeth with a small gap beside both so the powerchain went on.

The powerchain closed the gap quickly but when I woke up this morning my lateral incisor has rotated back quite a bit. It completely destabalized the lateral incisor. I can now see the side of the tooth appearing forward it is maybe a good 25 degree angle when it used to be completely turned straight. I am so upset right now. I just wanted to be out of these braces as promised by September. I didn't ever want to look like a "vampire" again as kids used to torment me. It has me just wanting to rip out the tooth myself I am that mad. I never want to look like this again.

I don't know what to do. I am tempted to cut the powerchain as it is doing damage to the lateral incisor. I would rather live with a small tiny hardly able to see gap vs. living with a rotated tooth again.

I would call your ortho asap and consult with him/her directly. Hopefully they are the kind of care provider that will have a quick chat over the phone or set a "let's take a peek and see" quickie appointment.
Braces for 18 months/4 days.

Same exact thing happened to me. If your next appointment isnt soon then call your ortho. In my situation, after a bracket was repositioned and my tooth rotated, my ortho had to put some wire bends and a rotational wedge on that tooth. It was fixed fairly quick but I understand your frustration. Keep us posted on what your ortho does to fix it.
