Pain Management

#1 Post by lfuentes2002 »

Hi

I am due to have surgery sometime in the near future. At each orth visit they say at the next visit they are going to refer me to a surgeon and start prepping.
For those who have had the surgery what were you given for main management and how long did you use it?

I had a baby in May and am currently breastfeeding. I am trying to get an idea of how that might be impacted when I do finally have the surgery.

Thanks for your help.

For surgery, I was given liquid tylenol with codeine. I think I only used 2-3 doses of it, few and far between. I wouldn't say that I had a high amount of pain, but I also only had BSSO.

I had a 3 piece lefort, (maxillary advancement and widening.). I was given liquid oxycodone as well as 800 mg ibuprofen tablets. I had little to no pain, the only thing they gave me in the hospital overnight was regular Tylenol through my IV once because I had a headache from the compression wrap over my head. I took a few of the higher dose ibuprofen for swelling but eventually switched to regular 200 mg after a day or two. Never used the liquid oxycodone either.
