Hi I got braces a couple months ago again at the age of 30. I trying to reopening spaces from upper premolars extracted at 12 and also to fix slight underbite. I have light wire braces a top expander and a bottom expander as well. I did a lot of research before I found a orthodontist in Mississippi who specializes in this sort of thing. I've seen before and after school and have talked to an old patient of his so I know it could be possible.
I have my doubts that it could work on me. I've been in it for about two months and not seeing much. I still plan on getting double jaw advancement after 3 years in braces but my ortho says I won't need it. He's got functional appliance to pull lower jaw back and move upper jaw forward but I don't get the need for that. I would think by expanding the upper arch enough for premolars spaces would expand it forward?
I also have a problem with my bottom molars tipping in towards tongue. It looks weird because I have all this extra gum on the side of it. You would think they can have a space right there. I have pics of that down at the bottom and would appreciate any feed back. I might start a blog here or something.
