Can ortho treatment be reversed?

Can ortho treatment be reversed?
I sought braces to fix minor lip incompetence and gummy smile. I have had Damon braces for 3 years now And now not only are they not fixed, but both issues have been exacerbated. My upper arch expanded and protruded disimproving my appearance. ortho says he cant do anything to improve either issue. So im wondering if its possible to backtrack the progress and put my arches the way they were before. No extractions performed, just braces.

Probably it's possible. Go to another orthodontist to get other advices and talk with your current doctor too. Ask about different types of treatment : with conventionnal braces and without premolar extraction, with conventionnal braces and with premolar extraction, Invisalign... But no Damon. And above all ask him a photoshop version of your face after the treatment to see how it will evolve if your chose each type of treatment.

He says he can't do anything for either issue? Perhaps you could get another opinion from a different orthodontist? So very sorry!

Re: Can ortho treatment be reversed?
I keep seeing forums and threads like this over the internet and I'm getting a bit scared about my treatment.
I've had two teeth removed extracted and Ik two teeth are going to be removed next week and after reading up about the procedure and how many people are saying it ruined their faces I'm beginning to think I will end up worse after braces not better.

I'm so sorry to hear that this happened to you. :(
Is your ortho responsive to feedback? If they are, then maybe you can set up an appointment with them and set out your goals for continued treatment (i.e., "I want my lip incompetence fixed, and I want a less gummy smile"), so that both of you are on the same page. If you never speak up about what you want, then they will never be able to address your issue. I know this might be a bit late to realign goals, but it's worth a shot because you DID PAY THEM to do a job.
I second what other posters have said, go find another ortho for a second opinion. You should ask if the condition of your teeth is possible to reverse in the first place! Your ortho might say that they can change it (they have a motivated interest in your continued patronage), but 3 other orthos might say that it's too difficult to reverse.
I hope you can figure this out!!
