Hi,
I'm nearing the end of my treatment, and happy overall, but I've noticed that my premolars on one side do not touch as there is a bend in my lower arch wire which has set my teeth lower.
I mentioned this at my last appointment, but the ortho said that she wasn't too concerned as they will move back up after the braces come off. At the time I accepted this, but now I'm not sure - surely retainers will prevent this?
Does anyone know if this sounds ok or should I insist it is sorted before they come off?

How did it go?

Well, retainers don't really do much to prevent teeth moving up/down, so it's possible, I suppose. That said, I would have thought most orthodontists would have pulled the teeth into the final bite before retention to make sure unexpected movements didn't occur.

I had it even worse. Only my canines touched! But when I started nighttime wear with my retainers, (Essix), everything started coming together because you teeth will move to meet another tooth. I was panicking after I got my braces off. My ortho grinded a few teeth to make my bite better. That sort of fixed it, but now that I'm in nighttime wear, it gets better each day.
Essix retainers don't retain height of teeth very well.
