Hi everyone. I had my braces installed this past Wednesday (22/3) to correct an over bite and cross bite, a large gap in my front teeth and slight crowding in the back teeth. My son has his braces in as well from December. I never expected the pain that came with it.
I also have to wear turbos and zebra rubber bands (24/7). I didn't anticipate the additional time to brush my teeth. Last night I decided to time myself with my oral hygiene routine and I spent 23.06 minutes just cleaning mouth. And that was the shortened version cause I forgot to brush my cheeks and the roof of my mouth (in my defence I was sleepy. This was like 11pm).
Any tips I can get from adult working mothers, especially if you're a nurse, will be really appreciated.

Re: New braces journey
Hey there!
I completely understand what you're going through! I got mine on the 20th of this past Monday. I also have to correct almost the same things except the gap, rather than that my issue is with not so slight at all, crowding, norrow "jaws"?
Anyways...
You'll get used to the brushing routine, and eventually will get faster at it as well. I actually have to brush with 3 brushesh, and the 4th additional one that is just a smaller size interdental brush. The first time it took me nearly 30 minutes .
Now I've gotten better at it and faster haha, so you just have to get used with it, that's all. And flossing is also very irritating and time-consuming... never skip it, and get yourself the flosses that are made specially for braces, it's slightly easier, if you haven't already. They made a huge difference for me.
I'm curious, why do you brush the cheeks and the root of your mouth? I wasn't recommended to do it, makes me wonder.

Thanks for your reply gonemeNtal.
It just a thing that I do to brush my cheeks and roof of my mouth. I just feel like I have to get every single crevice. I also use a tongue scraper after I brush my tongue. I know it sounds obsessive but it's just me I guess. I also use the christmas tree brushes at different sizes because of the range of spaces between each bracket.
I found this really cool floss today that's kinda cottony at one end and ordinary floss at the other. I haven't tried it yet but I am somewhat optimistic.
But please let me know how you're coping with your journey and what you have found that helps you manage your cleaning routine better.

Hi steph30. The dicomfort has eased a bit but I am still unable to bite down and chew comfortably. I am a foodie so this is not so good for me.
