Which way do I wear my headgear?

Which way do I wear my headgear?

I know how to put it in and on just which way is the right side up because weh I look at some pictures or videos they say have the brake ( the small wire and then the dips) pointing up problem is when I do that the headgear is pointing downard and does not seem right to me when I have the brakes pointing down ( like a U instead of it pointing up like ^ ) it is straight and seems to fit much better. I am sorry if this sounds like a dumb question I am very new to headgear and want to wear it correctly!

I would guess it should be an upside down U but suggest you call your ortho. I'm sure this is a question they will get all the time from new patients.

Just because it fits better as a U doesn't mean it goes that way. It's trying to move a lot of teeth and there might be a bit of pressure involved. Definitely call your ortho to confirm which way it's supposed to go. Way back when, mine was n not u.

I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!
