Molar bands
I just had my braces placed 7/26 (top only) and had molar bands put in 8/7. The bands have buccal tubes and lingual buttons. The buttons are tearing up up my tongue. I can get used to everything else, after the first week I hardly notice the brackets, the tubes are a little annoying but bearable but these damn lingual buttons are killing me. I talk 8 hours a day for my job. I can put some wax on them and deal with it but the wax comes off when I eat so I have to remove and reapply at every meal which is already starting to get old. I don't think my mouth is going to get accustomed to the buttons like everything else. Anybody have any tricks over than going through a box of wax every week for the next 27 months?
Re: Molar bands
Believe it or not, I use the clear silicon swimmers ear plugs. I had difficulty with the wax and found this a much better option. And you can eat with it on your brackets. There is another option that I've tried called OrthoDots. It works really well but more expensive than the ear plugs. Hope this helps.
