Hello!
So, I am having surgery next Tuesday! I'm excited and a little nervous. I am having Lefort 1-2 Piece on the Maxilla and subapical osteotomy that will be isolated to my left side only. I know a Left 1-2 Piece is common to have, but has anyone ever had a subapical osteotomy and were there any complications? I know swelling and slight pain is to be expected. What type of pain medications were you all prescribed and this is a silly question but was it liquid pain meds? My surgeon said I will be wired shut for at least 2 weeks. Did being wired shut make anyone feel claustrophobic? Like when they say wired are your teeth literally held together not even a little opening between them? Did anyone loose a ton of weight? Naturally that will happen with being on a liquid diet. I don't want to come out of this looking like I've been starving for several weeks lol.
I welcome all advise! Thanks in advance!

Hello, I had a 3-piece lf-1. I was on liquid oxy. The first week was rough. I could hardly sleep, and if I did it was only because of the meds making me drowsy. There was little pain, mostly because my nerves were stretched so I didn’t have any feeling. I didn’t loose much weight, because I tried my best to keep my calories up. I took liquid vitamins as soon as I could, mixed it with juice because liquid vits are nasty. Anyhow, since I wasn’t active at all during recovery, I managed to keep most of the weight on. I did lose a little weight overall. Maybe 5 lbs. I think the liquid diet took away my bloat, so I definitely felt alot skinnier. Anyhow, the first week is the worst... First thing I thought to myself upon waking from surgery was, “what did I just do to myself”. My teeth were banded shut and everything just felt off and weird. The worst was seeing myself swollen and head wrapped. I’ve never felt so hopeless and venerable. It was horrible. But time heals all wounds. I’m on the road to recovery and just glad that first chapter is finally over. I’m glad the surgery is finally over. Lol
