first adjustment

#1 Post by sunkist_beachbabe »

I am going in for my first adjustment in a few weeks...my question is what am I in for? Does the tightening hurt worse than getting the initial hardware?

Well, it varies from person-to-person when it comes to levels of pain toleration, but I do know that the first time I went to go get my adjustment it did cause me some pain. The thing is, I have lots of crowding going on in my lower laterals, they had the install a spring to create more space, but getting the spring on took the dental assistant about 5 minutes, causing me lots of pain.

I don't want to scare you. It really all depends on what they're going to do at your adjustment. It might not even hurt at all, or maybe you'll only experience a little bit of discomfort. I'm hoping it's the former for you.

For me adjustments hurt alot worse. My top teeth are alright actually but my bottom teeth are being yanked every way so when it comes to getting the ligs on and off during adjustments it's very painful but I just think of it this way - it only hurts for a few minutes when I'm in the orthodontists chair, afterwards I'm just fine :D
