I got my bottom braces put on about a month ago. Well they are still iratating my mouth. There are little open cuts in my mouth. And they hurt alot. Today i was at school and i was chewing gum and i accidentally bit one of the cuts and it started to bleed. It was really gross. I had to run to the bathroom to spit blood out. My question is: is there a product i can use to make the cuts and canker sores heal faster? Cause i am in pain!!
honestly if anyone finds any I really want to know also! I have a really poky wire that is driving me nuts and giving me horrible cuts but I can't go in to get it cut until Wednesday (that's my next adjustment)!
My bottom braces also have given me a lot of cuts and they still hurt! My ortho's assistant had to point out all of the cuts in my mouth the last time I was there! It was kind of embarrassing! She says its the hooks that are causing all of the sores but they are really hard to wax!
Good luck!
-Hannah
Top braces: 4/28/04
Bottom braces: 11/16/05
Next Adjustment is 2/1/06 where they will bond a bracket to my cuspid which was impacted!!!!
Glyoxide - It's an OTC oral rinse and it's amazing. I used it when I got my tongue pierced years ago, but my ortho gave me the thumbs up on using it for sores. You can usually find it in the oral care section of the pharmacy.. it's in a small blue and white box, and is usually about 7 or 8 bucks. All you do is drop a couple of drops in your mouth and swoosh.. Like I said, it's extremely effective and will heal irritations much quicker. I'm going to get some tonight!
I had this problem on my lower bracket area and I finally gave in and put some wax just today. I also use biotin or peroxyl and they are great products.
