My favorite was Biltong (I think you guys in the USA call it jerky, its basically dried spicy meat strips), but my ortho specifically warned me not to eat it as it has a stringy texture and gets between even the closest of teeth making cleaning almost impossible (apparently the damage is usually done during the cleanup stage). So I haven't touched the stuff since being braced. The other thing I like is ribs, but just the thought of those bits of meat getting entangled in my brackets is enough to put me entirely off.
The way I look at it is to just use those things you can't eat now as motivation to get done as fast as possible so you can eat them after the braces come off!
I love potato chips - Buffalo wing flavoured are my favorite. They were hard to eat at first while my teeth were sensitive but it's getting better every day!
I also like raw veggies and baba ganoush but raw veggies are kind of hard to eat so far
Feel free to check out my braces blog by clicking on WWW icon below - I'd love to have you drop by!
In the beginning I had to figure out how to eat stuff, but by now I can't think of anything besides biting clean into an apple that I can't do. (And besides, it's better to slice that apple up and dip into caramel anyway, isn't it??)

I'm with you la la! Crab Crab Crab! Had the most amazing king crab recently in Charleston SC it was just so melt in your mouth! Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to eat it since I got braced but I am sur I can still eat it as long as I don't try and crach the shell with my teeth!!
I'm giving up almonds (whole ones at least) and popcorn; either too messy or too hard. Had no other issues so far. I am using my knife more than I used to, and find myself using knife and fork in a Chinese restaurant rather than my normal chopsticks so I can cut up the food more finely.
Just as well i like soup and jelly as its all i have been able to manage today as its my 1st day. dreaming of hot buttery toast!!!!! maybe tomorrow....
Fav food I can eat is gumbo though the rice does seem like to hide in my braces. I use the excuse that fillets are easier to eat when I want a steak!
Nuts do not seem worth the trouble even though I love them. I miss apples since I don't seem to go to the bother of cutting them up. I eat bananas or canned fruit instead. Raw vegies are out.
Boy, I like all foods. I haven't had much curry lately since my ligs have been changed to clear. I had an allergic reaction to the colored powerchains. BOOOOOO! The ortho doesn't want to risk another reaction seeings that it could have been the latex or it could have been the dye. Poor me! I've still been having corn on the cob, crunchy peanut butter, baby back ribs, toasted bagels, pita chips, tortilla chips, kettle chips, anything that crunches has been through these braces.
