Hey EARL,
Its not that you won't be able to speak somewhat normally, but it just aches after about 10 minutes of constant talking. I had so many visitors at the beginning of my recovery and i wanted to talk, i just couldn't for all of it. One thing i did do before surgery was to practice talking with my jaws held together. This sounds stupid i know, but i was in hospital at the same time as a girl with jaw surgery and she could only make noises whilst i was jabbering on! It really seemed worth it...i think she just assumed she couldn't talk and didn't really try. Anyhoo, thats my two cents!! I hope it helps :)

hey there. i had the same thing done as you and i was able to talk right after surgery! Although if i spoke non stop for about 5 - 10 minutes i would get exhausted!

I am now 2 weeks post op, and am planning to return to work next week so i suggest 3 - 4 weeks! The most important thing is to see how you feel, everyone recovers differently.
