Congratulations JayC. Your teeth look brilliant now and glad to hear your getting used to the essixs relatively quickly. :D

Fingers crossed my infections gone, the surgical team are still keeping close eye on me, but ortho wise im done so next week (the 28th not 22nd as i said in orginal post) i join you in being brace free, just hope my teeth look as good as yours do.

JayC wrote:ummm im on essix rite now. and was supposed to be on the vivera thereafter... im prescribed to wear my retainers full time for 3 months then nightly/evening. BUT i am probably going to opt for the bonded on the bottom for the full time periods THEN go to the vivera for overnite use. i was never using invisalign but my essix lower has been activated to rotate a stubborn lower incisor which has already done its job..

Thanks for posting on the Viveras, I totally switched! I've had my lower bonded removed and am getting Viveras for both upper and lower. Upper still has the permanent retainer because that's where my surgery was and it felt most unsecure.

So should be on viveras for upper with permanent and lower without bonded. Since the lower hadn't had a wire changed since December and the bonded was on for three months, I've noticed no change without the permanent and have only been wearing my temporary essix at night, as will be wearing the viveras when I pick up the first set on Wednesday:)

The lower bonded was fine until I discovered crunchy pizza in June. You know the kind with prosciutto and crunchy crusty? yeah I could never get the prosciutto to come off before in a bite, not going to stop now!!:)

god to hear arv! i cant even remember the last time my top archwire was changed... even with my lower i cant remember. its been a good 3 months at least. but my incisors are still a bit soft since my lower essix were activated to move a couple teeth into better position. my tops feel rock solid. thats why i wanted bonded for lower so it would be secured better. the ortho talked me out of getting bonded for the full time wea rand actually negotiated with me to wear the viveras full time for 6 weeks rather than 12 weeks then nightly... he said was very confident the viveras would do the job when worn at night/evening only after full time wear for 6 weeks

i said ok fine. but i will wear the bottoms full time for longer just cuz im scared they will shift. but tops i will only wear 6 weeks full time. its kinda anticlimactic i must say. the day of the deband i was ECSTaTIC... then kinda sad i dint have braces nemore lol. now i just want the retainer phase during daytime to go away ahahha its more annoying than anything having to remove the retainers everytime i eat. i eat 6 times a day lol.

luoluo im sure your teeth will look ridiculously good. if they look good with braces on.. they will look awesome with them off. like i said. when i had my brakcets on.. i still thought they didnt look the way i wanted them to... but once they were off and a little polishing and shaping and wow

ok so im back. hahah i just wanted to update that i decided to get the bonded lowers and kept my essix for nightwear on the top. i only wore the retianers full time for about a month. then started to only wear them half the day.. then only at night. i noticed my tops were totally fine with night wear only as they did not feel tight at all once i put them back on.

as for the lowersl.. they were still no that stable but i just couldnt stand the plastic in my mouth. i would tend to chew on the things.. so i decided to get the bottoms perm bonded and wear the top ones at nite. thats all really for updates...

i did end up gettin ghtat greyed out tooth root canal'd. it went fine but it hit a nice dent in the wallet lol. oh well. should be fairly problem free from now on... post op stuff with the jaw is fine.. no issues at all arising and i dont even think about the jaw nemore. its like i never had the surgery.. awesome!

i didnt get internal blehing done.. so the tooth is still a bit darker. i dunno why the dentist never gave me the option but i didnt really care. i guess i should have asked but i didnt wanna spend extra money and it really doesnt bother me. its not that noticeable.
